Reference Swedish Transport Administration
"The problem with confirming a person's identity from a photo is now like gone with the wind."
Background
The Swedish Transport Administration was in great need to streamline its production of driving licenses. Reference Swedish Transport Administration
Prerequisites and Problems
The problem was that the existing system was far from reliable and the process was not efficient enough. The system was time consuming, tedious and was the source of many errors. The Swedish Transport Administration decided to implement a technical change to get a faster and secure identification of people for the production of their driving licenses. They simply wanted the most secure and the most efficient method to produce a driving license.
The Solution
The methodology and products of Speed Identity corresponded to the requirements and needs of the Swedish Transport Administration. This resulted in an order of 35 photo booths, that in total produce approximately 200 000 images for driving licenses each year.
Results
The production has now become significantly more efficient, it is no longer necessary to scan the photos but instead everything is in a digital form within the closed system. The time it takes to prepare driving licenses has been drastically reduced and above all, the safety of the identification has improved tremendously.
Providing service and support to the customer is also a part of our commitment. Included in the service, in addition to resolving any technical difficulties, there is a visit to each station three times a year for preventive maintenance. The authority leases equipment from Speed Identity by paying for each saved image. The contract includes everything, equipments, licenses, installation and service.
The successful outcome in Sweden with the Swedish Transport Administrator led to Speed Identity also installing a similar solution in Estonia and Lithuania. In Estonia, there are currently 18 photo booths installed that produce approximately 70,000 driving licenses each year. The order came from the Eesti-Riiklik Autoreg-istrikeskus, which is the equivalent of the Swedish Transport Administration. Tamura Tsäkko says: "We are very satisfied with the equipment and service supplied by Speed Identity and look forward continuing working together for many years, even after the end of the current contract in 2012. "
Testimonials
"We have only a small number of rejected photos for driving licenses compared to the past, which is very satisfying." says Per-Olof Nilsson on the Swedish Transport Authority.
